NATIONAL Assembly Speaker Kenneth Marende yesterday said he will first study a brief presented to him by legal experts before making a decision on a case involving assistant minister Richard Onyonka and his party PDP.

"I will look at the brief when I get to the office soon, from there I will decide on how to handle the matter," Marende said. PDP wants the MP's seat declared vacant saying he is not complying. with the Political Party's Act'.
The Speaker had promised a ruling on the matter in 21 days towards the end of last year but did not do so. Then, the Speaker is said to have sought an opinion from the State Law office on the matter.
Former assistant minister Omingo Magara's allies are linked to the party. Last year, the former South Mugirango MP endorsed the party when he paraded its officials at a rally in Kisii attended by Agriculture minister William Ruto.
