THREE hundred people left homeless after their houses were razed down in an arson attack in Kisii will be housed by the government, a DC said yesterday.
Kisii South DC Mohammed Maalim said tents will be handed out to the fire victims, but called on well wishers to donate mattresses, blankets and food. "We have put measures in place to save these people from more suffering," the DC said.
The more than 300 residents were rendered homeless after Bokeire villagers raided Chisaro village and torched homes following the discovery of the body of a 48- year-old man, Ezekiel Omboya.
Omboya's decomposing and badly mutilated body was found in a sugarcane plantation four days after he was reported missing. Maalim said police patrols have been intensified.
"Investigations have been launched and I want to assure the residents that those who were involved are going to be arrested and charged," said the DC.
