Public Works minister Chris Obure has accused some fellow Kisii MPs of inciting residents of Gucha District to vote No in the referendum due to the abolition of the county. According to the draft, the Kisii region will comprise only two counties — Kisii and Nyamira. The local councillors have protested against what they call taking them back to Gusii, from where Gucha was hived off. The minister, who is also the MP for Bobasi, criticised politicians whom he accused of walking out of Parliament when amendments on the counties issue were proposed.
