A man who threatened to decapitate his father for abusing his mother has been jailed for two years.

Isaac Moguche Onchonga committed the offence on April 9, at Nyaisero sub location, Gucha District.

He was charged with intimidating Samwel Onchonga Kenyasi by threatening to cut his head with a panga.

On that day at around 7.30 pm, Onchonga was walking home in the company of another elder. They encountered the accused person who blocked their way while armed with a panga.

He threatened to cut his father’s head accusing him of talking ill of his mother.

The complainant scampered for safety and hid at the assistant chief’s office where he reported the matter. The following day, Moguche was arrested and taken to Ogembo Police Station and charged.
In mitigation, the accused prayed for a lenient sentence.

However, in his social valuation report, the probation officer told the court that the accused is alleged to have caused injury to a neighbour’s eye.

The officer further said the accused was part of a gang that terrorised villagers. He recommended a custodial sentence until the environment at home becomes favourable for his return.
