The Government has banned fund raising meetings in South Mugirango Constituency until after the June 10 by-election.

The move comes after an aspirant, Mr Abaga Sagero, was attacked at a fundraising in Tabaka last week and alleged Mr Omingo Magara’s supporters were responsible. Gucha South DC Geoffrey Mayama said the move was necessary to curb such incidents.

"All fund raising functions remain suspended until after the by-election. We have realised they give people opportunities to make statements that create tension. The official campaign period has not begun and some aspirants are misusing these functions to politic."
