Ford People's Manson Nyamweya is the new Member of Parliament for South Mugirango.
Nyamweya garnered 14,099 votes to clinch the hotly contested seat.
Nyamweya beat former assistant minister Omingo Magara of People's Democratic Party (PDP) who managed 8,885.
The seat became vacant last year after a successful petition against the election of then ODM national treasurer Magara who later ditched his party.
The Orange Democratic Party's Ibrahim Ochoi came third with 7,638 votes.
Wild celebrations rocked the the tallying hall following the announcement of the results by returning officer Boniventure Obongoya at 6am Friday.
In his acceptance speech, Nyamweya said he was ready to bring development to the region adding that he would also work towards uniting the residents.
Earlier, ODM MPs led by Lands Minister James Orengo caused a stir in the counting hall when they rejected the provisional results displayed by the Interim Independent Electoral Commission (IIEC)
They said the IIEC was sending wrong signals because the media was relying on the provisional results and that was likely to mislead the public.
IIEC was forced to withdraw the e-tallying system and resorted to manual counting.
This is the first time IIEC was relaying election results electronically.
