A Kenyan has been arrested in the US after the bodies of his wife and their two children were found in an apartment in Minnesota on Wednesday night.
Mr Justus Ogendi Kebabe allegedly killed his wife Leah Piria Omare, 34, and their children Isaboke, 12, and Bosibori, 9, before fleeing with a four-year-old son.
Mr Kebabe, who is from Gesere village in Nyaribari Chache, Kisii, was arrested at a roadblock by the Minnesota police.
The child was found in the car unharmed and handed over to child protective custody. Mr Kebabe has confessed to the three deaths.
The bodies were discovered after a relative, Mr John Lister Onyango called the Ramsey County Sherriff’s office requesting them to check on Mr Kebabe after he became concerned by his recent statements.
He was concerned that he would commit suicide and harm the children.
Mr Onyango, who spoke to the Nation from New Jersey, said Mr Kebabe had confided in him about the frustrations of a strained relationship with his wife.
“If I kill myself, I want you to know why I did it,” he had confided.
Mr Kebabe had complained that after bringing his wife to the US and she had started “disrespecting him.”
He believed she was involved with someone else and could not stand it.
