Kisii police boss Peter Njenga is investigating an incident where a man who defiled a six year old girl in Mosocho was set free by policemen at Mosocho administration police post.
The man was arrested on January 25 and handed over to the police by the child's mother and other villagers who caught him in the act. The child's mother said police at Mosocho police post had attempted to persuade her to take Sh50,000 in cash and two cows as compensation from the suspect who was released a day after he was arrested.
She said the police doctor who filled the P3 also tried to prevail upon her to withdraw the case. He made it clear that he would not help her if she decided to go ahead with the matter.
Attempts by the single mother of two to have the man re-arrested and to have him charged have been thwarted by the Mosocho police who have refused to record the incident.
Medical reports indicate that the child was admitted at the hospital for five days and treated for the sex attack.
