South Mugirango allocates 45% CDF to school

THE South Mugirango CDF kitty has allocated 45 per cent of its budget to school projects, MP Manson Nyamweya has said. The cash will be used to refurbish classrooms, laboratories and libraries in primary and secondary schools. “I now challenge you to reciprocate by improving your performance in national examinations,” Nyamweya told teachers and pupils in schools he toured in the constituency.
He urged teachers and students to work hard to reverse the declining standards of educations.Even well-equipped schools in area perform poorly in national examinations, he said,
The Ford-P MP said clan-based politics and interference from sponsors have ruined education in Gusiiland.Gucha South in his constituency has the lowest transition rate of girls from primary to secondary schools.
The MP urged girls to shun teenage sex and early marriages. Area DEO Elisha Omalla said only half of the girls who sit KCPE complete their secondary education by sitting for KCSE exams. Several schools in the area are being lined up to be split to have single sex schools, the MP added.
