Kisii politicians and opinion leaders have resolved Kisii town will be the headquarters of Kisii County. Representatives from seven constituencies decided that the county assembly and the governor’s resident build in the town.

 Public Works minister Chris Obure chaired the meeting that made the decision. He announced that Kisii topped because of the existing social, economic amenities in the town.

Obure, speaking at the Gusii Institute of Technology, said the decision was preceded by wide and long consultations. He announced 14 acres to house the county assembly and governor's residence have been identified.
