A section of coffee growers in Nyamira have accused police of laxity in resolving a case in which Sh4 million worth of produce was stolen from their mills.

The Nyangoso coffee farmers claimed that the produce, which police seized in Oyugis Town while on transit, had disappeared. The farmers' chairman Peter Arita wondered how the consignment disappeared yet there were suspects in custody. Mwancha said problems in the sector were driving farmers away despite the scarcity of land in the area.
