100,000 Mosquito Nets for Kisii

The Ministry of Public Health will distribute more than 100,000 insecticide mosquito treated nets in Kisii this month. Area district public health officer Francis Makau said the nets will be supplied under the Presidential Malaria Initiative. Makau said that since the start of the distribution of nets in 1983, malaria cases have been on the decline.

He said some residents were misusing the nets but the trend will not be allowed. "Members of the public should realise that the nets serve only one purpose and not use them as fishing nets or making garden fences and chicken cages," he said.
