Internally displaced persons who have not received Sh35,000 government compensation should submit their names to the Truth, Justice and Reconciliation Commission.
Commissioner Tom Ojienda said the TJRC had realised IDPs from Western and Nyanza provinces were not fully compensated like their counterparts from other parts of the country.
“Those who did not receive Sh35,000 from the government should submit their names to TJRC statement takers in their areas to enable us pursue their case with the Ministry of Special Programmes,” Mr Ojienda said.
He said TJRC would ensure there would be no discrimination in the disbursement of the funds.
“Those who only received Sh10,000 or none at all should remit their names to us so that we can ensure justice is done to all,” Mr Ojienda added.
He was addressing more than 900 integrated IDPs from West Mugirango constituency at Nyamira’s Uhuru Gardens who protested that they were discriminated against by the government in the allocation of the funds.
Gusii region IDP coordinator Joseph Onduko Orangi said there were more than 4,000 displaced persons in Nyamira county who had not been compensated.
He said none of them had received Sh25,000 given to others from other parts of the country.
Ms Teresa Bochaberi and Mr David Obondi said some of them have not been accepted by their neighbours who uprooted them from their homes in Rift Valley Province.
Mr Ojienda asked the government to help families rejected by their former neighbours by selling their property and relocating them elsewhere, where they will be safe.
