INSPECTORS have been dispatched to Sameta High School in Kisii County following constant fire outbreaks. Nyanza provincial director of education Geoffrey Cherongis said, "We are sending inspectors to investigate the cause of the fires and wrangles. We shall take necessary action after the thorough audit of the school."
Speaking in his office yesterday, Cherongis called for calm at the wrangle ridden school. "Let us first wait for the audit report and I ask stakeholders to remain calm. We want to get to the root of the problem and find a lasting solution once and for all," said the PDE.
"Stern action will be taken against those found to be involved in the arson attacks. If the principal is found to have failed professionally, action will be taken. Nobody will be spared," he said.
Cherongis said school principal Fred Sunda will not be transferred on the basis of his religion as demanded by the PAG church who are the school sponsors. Sunda is a Catholic.
Last week, arsonists torched the third dormitory in one year. Police have arrested six students who were suspected to have started the fire.
Yesterday Sameta district education officer Timothy Opot and Bobasi MP Chris Obure were expected to hold a Board of Governors meeting at the school.
