Twilight girls invade Kisii

KISII residents have raised concerns over increasing number of women and young girls engaging in prostitution in Kisii town. The residents complained that some streets have been turned into prostitution zones where women publicly announce their prices and sex services on offer for as little as sh20.

A survey conducted by the Star, revealed that on Fridays and weekends, the women and girls line up at notorious points like Kawanji area where they wait for prospective clients. It was also revealed that used condoms are being dumped in water trenches along the streets.

Kisii Chamber of Commerce Chairman Benjamin Onkoba said the illegal business was denting the image of the town and called for quick measures to eradicate the vice.

Onkoba noted with concern the soaring number of twilight girls and women who roam the town for sex peddling. He said he suspected many of the girls might have dropped from school to look for quick money from men.

Speaking in Kisii town, the chairman asked area regional commissioner Lydia Muriuki to move swiftly and ensure that those engaging in the illegal business are arrested and charged.

Muriuki warned that the government will not condone such immorality saying that measures have been put in place to arrest those engaging in the illegal business.
