Education Minister Prof. Sam Ongeri has clarified that the government was yet to make a decision on the scrapping of Kenya Certificate of Primary Education examination (KCPE).
Ongeri explained that the ministry will consult widely with stakeholders, examine subject combination and curriculum content before making an informed decision on the KCPE.
While presiding over St. Charles Lwanga, Ichuni Girls secondary school Education Day in Kisii county, the education minister said a task force was yet to submit views from the stakeholders on the issue saying they should be consulted before a decision was arrived at.
The minister observed that while some sponsors opposed the proposal and others support it, there is the need to bring all of them on board through meetings.
The minister blamed some officials in his ministry for trying to cause panic through utterances.
