Five from one family die in accident

A family of five died in a road accident. They were on their way to attend a funeral of a relative in Nyaribari-Masaba. Three brothers and two nephews died after their pick-up had a tyre burst and rolled several times.

The accident occurred at Riamasasati area along Kisii-Keroka road where other passengers were injured in the morning accident. They were taken to Keroka and Gucha District Hospitals. A witness, Elijah Mosota, told The Standard that the pick-up rolled after the tyre burst before landing into a ditch killing three occupants on the spot.

The accident occurred just about 30 minutes after the victims left their home in Nyaibasa village, Kitutu- Masaba constituency in Nyamira County for a funeral in neighbouring Nyamasibi in Nyaribari-Masaba constituency, Kisii County.

The three brothers who died on the spot were Amonga Masagara, a chief in Molo, Ontiri Masagara and Makebe Nyakenywa.

Their two nephews, Evans Tora and Joshua Nyang’au died at the Kisii Level Five Hospital.
