NATIONWIDE League side Gusii Shabana have started recruiting players to bolster the team ahead of the second leg. Club coach Rashid Omar said they are going for experienced players from Premier League and Nationwide League sides.“We made a mistake of recruiting inexperienced players at the beginning of the season and that has cost us some points. We want players who have played in the top flight leagues,” he added. Omar said they have already identified the players but declined to name them until they put pen to paper. The club’s priority at the moment is a goalkeeper, a defender, two midfielders and a striker. The club will also off-load five players who failed to rise to expectations. “There are highly rated players we signed but they failed to click when the league started,” added Omar. The team finished 10th in the league with 18 points after the first leg but Omar still thinks they can rise to the top two positions and be promoted to the Kenya Premier League (KPL). “Our goal is to be promoted to the KPL. We are targeting to get as many points as possible in the second leg,” added Omar. The league will resume on July 31 after a one month break.
