Gusii MPs have welcomed Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka who is set to start a three-day campaign tour of the area starting tomorrow. Foreign Affairs assistant minister Richard Onyonka, Bomachoge MP Simon Ogari and his Nyaribare Chache counterpart Robert Monda said the VP is free to visit the area.
They said the VP’s tour is welcome as long as it is intended to address development issues. But he is also free to campaign, they added. “He is basically moving around the Gusii area to try and popularise his presidential bid. As things stand, there are two serious presidential candidates PM Raila and Kalonzo,” said Kitutu Chache MP Onyonka.
The Foreign Affairs assistant minister confirmed that the VP met Kisii MPs on Wednesday evening when the itinerary was drawn. Monda said Kalonzo is welcome in Kisii as a national leader.“I have not checked my diary but if he (VP) is coming to address development issues, then I will accompany him,” he added.
ODM Kenya deputy secretary general Dennis Abincha and secretary for legal affairs Ben Momanyi also welcomed the VP’s tour. Businessman Victor Ogeto said Kolonzo will use the visit to demonstrate to the people that he can push their agenda.Ruto is scheduled to return to Kisii next week.
