Kalonzo calls for pormotion of peace

Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka on Sunday commended elders from Kisii and Kipsigis communities for promoting peace and resolving to coexist harmoniously along their common border.
Mr. Musyoka said it was time Kenyans uphold the spirit of peace, national healing and reconciliation as a means to realize social and economic prosperity.
He urged Kenyans to reject politicians engaging in divisive tendencies that promote hatred amongst them and instead support leaders working towards peace and national unity.
The Vice President was addressing wananchi in Kaplong and Chebilat markets on his way to Kisii to start his three - day tour of Kisii and Nyamira counties.
Earlier, Mr. Musyoka also made several stop-overs to acknowledge greetings from wananchi who turned up to receive him. Among the places he addressed the people included Suswa, Mulot, Longisa, Bomet town, Kapkwen, Kaplong, Chebilat and Keroka among other areas.
The Vice President was accompanied by Assistant Ministers, Beatrice Kones, Richard Onyonka, MP's Johnstone Muthama (Kangundo), Isaac Ruto (Chepalungu), Dr. Victor Munyaka (Machakos town), George Nyamwea(nominated), Gideon Mbuvi(Sonko) of Makadara and Walter Nyambati (Kitutu Masaba) and PNU activist Stanley Livondo among other leaders.
Mr. Musyoka cautioned the youth against engaging in excessive consumption of alcohol and instead rededicate their time to income generating ventures that would improve their livelihood.
He said the new constitution provides wider avenues for Kenyans to pursue and to fully exploit their economic potentials.
"Let us respect the opinion of others and learn to tolerate each other irrespective of our ethnicity or political persuasions, Let us support each other in addressing the many challenges facing our nation that include poverty and unemployment," the VP added.
