Vice-President Kalonzo Musyoka has dismissed calls for the Education Minister to resign over missing Sh4.2 billion free education funds.
Mr Kalonzo at the weekend said Prof Sam Ongeri should not be crucified before investigations into the allegations were done.
“I am not defending Ongeri, but investigations should be carried out to establish the real truth about the loss of the funds before anybody is condemned,” he said.
Speaking in Kitutu Chache constituency where he presided over a fundraiser in aid of St Josephine Bakhita Catholic Church, the VP faulted the civil society for locking Ongeri’s office as it was denying Kenyans important services.
“The civil society activists should not take the role of investigator and judge at the same time. They must allow the law to take its course,” he said.
Next elections
Mr Musyoka, who was accompanied by area MP Richard Onyonka, asked the church to pray for the country ahead of next year’s General Election.
He asked the Kisii community to support him in his bid for presidency, saying, the country needed
a leader to unite all Kenyans.
At the same time, the VP assured Provincial Administration officials that they would not lose their jobs in the new dispensation.
