VP ponders Kisii partner in 2012 race

Vice-President Kalonzo Musyoka is considering a Kisii running mate in his bid for presidency. “As the ODM-K presidential candidate, I am ready to pick a running mate from Gusii if the community gives me one of their own who can speak on their behalf,” he said.

The VP said he was friendly to the area MPs and if the community chose one of their senior ministers, he could accept him as his front-runner in his quest for the State House seat.

VP’s target

Mr Chris Obure and Prof Sam Ongeri are the two Cabinet ministers from the community who the VP appeared to target. He did not mention Prof Ongeri, but said of Mr Obure: “I know Mr Obure and I have worked with him previously and I have found him to be a good man. But he is now too inclined to Raila who is my political rival.”

Mr Musyoka was addressing country leaders on Monday night at a Nyamira hotel after presiding over a funds drive for two schools in Kitutu Masaba constituency
