No running mate from us, no votes, Kisii’s tell Kalonzo

Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka’s vote hunting foray in Kisii met stiff conditions when the community demanded nothing short of a running mate in return for their votes.

The Abagusii community leaders told Kalonzo to his face that they will only give him support if he chooses one of their own as his running mate in next years general elections.

The leaders who were led by assistant minister Richard Onyonka (Kitutu Chache, MP Walter Nyambati (Kitutu Masaba),advocate Ben Momanyi and Ford people national chairman Mr. Henry Obwocha gave Kalonzo an assurance that he could get an automatic support from the community if he picks
one of their own for the second top seat.

Speaking at various stop over’s in Kitutu Masaba constituency in Nyamira county, the leaders reiterated that the community will not allow itself to be misused politically by presidential aspirants as unlike in the past where it was duped into supporting a candidate who finally ignored it after triumph.

Onyonka who is an assistant minister for foreign affairs said the community could also consider supporting a candidate who will guarantee their people security wherever they are in the country.

Nyambati described Kalonzo as a visionary and a honest person who should be supported for the top seat after the retirement of president Kibaki.

Former MP Mr Obwocha advised Kalonzo to work with the community very closely if he expected their full support.

In response Kalonzo challenged the Kisii community to be united and declare whom among them they want to be his running mate.

Kalonzo said he was very much ready to pick a Kisii as his running mate if only he is fronted by all members of the community not a few individuals.

He ruled out the Bobasi Mp Chris Obure being his running mate saying that although he was his friend, he was deeply rooted in his main challenger Raila Odinga’s camp.
