Suspected thug is shot dead in Nyamira

Police in Nyamira county yesterday shot dead a suspected criminal and arrested two others. The suspects broke into the home of Francis Anari, 51,on the outskirts of Nyamira town and ransacked and looted property before the police caught up with them. Anari said a child who was sleeping in the next room woke up, sneaked out through a window, and informed the neighbours who rang the police.
Patrick Omwoyo, 21, was shot dead when he tried to confront the officers while another suspect escaped with serious gunshot injuries. Two of their accomplices who were brothers were held by the police and are helping with investigations. Police said the brothers were the sons of a former local provincial administrator.
Narrating his ordeal, said he was asleep when they knocked at the door at around 3am. Anari said before he could make up his mind, the suspects broke into the house through the main door while others gained access through the ceiling.
He said the thugs threatened him with death and confiscated his cell phone and some cash before they began ransacking the house. “I have never encountered this is in the entire of my life. It is suprising that young boys have turned to be dangerous criminals,” he said. Anari said that he was a live because of the quick response from the officers whom he said rushed the scene within a few minutes.
