Two children burnt to death in Kisii county

A family in Boronyi village in Kisii county is mourning two children who were burnt to ashes when their grass-thatched house caught fire death over the weekend. The twins Paul Barongo and Franklin Mogeni were consumed by the raging fire in the 7am incident. It was alleged that the young boys were locked in the house by their mother Esther Moraa who had gone to fetch water from a nearby spring.

Efforts by the infants’ father Abunga Obwocha, who was working in their farm some few metres, to save them bore no fruit. “I can’t believe that my children are dead. Somebody might have torched the house because of the existing land dispute,” Moraa said. The raging fire was discovered by a neighbour who had gone to borrow a jembe from the family but was shocked to find the house on fire.
