Police in Nyamira discover witchcraft paraphernalia in house

There was a security scare in Nyamira yesterday morning when word went round that human body parts had been discovered in a house in the area.

Curious villagers surrounded the semi-permanent house near Kebirigo market after some children said they saw their grandmother packing a human head and male genitals in a plastic bag.
Police in Nyamira arrived at the house and ransacked it. They found paraphernalia believed to be used to carry out witchcraft. 
The children said their grandmother is a herbalist and whenever patients visited the house, she made them consume soup made from the ‘human body parts’.

 The elderly woman was absent at the time of the search. Nyamira and its environs is notorious for lynching witches. Police said they will arrest the women and launch investigations into the matter.
