Gusii Shabana writes to FKF over exclusion

GUSII Shabana have written to the Football Kenya Federation to protest against the club’s omission from the Nationwide Division One League. In a letter signed by Mike Odongo on behalf of the Patron Don Bosco Gichana, the club is demanding immediate reinstatement to the league. According to the letter addressed to the FKF secretary general Sam Nyamweya, the club finished in position 12 in last season’s Football Kenya Limited-run Nationwide Division One and thus deserves a slot in the western zone of the league.

Gichana dismissed a purported merger between Gusii Shabana and the original Shabana. “No discussions took place to merge the clubs as purported. We should not resort to boardroom promotions at the expense of merit,” added Gichana. He added: “We want our participation letter so that we start preparations within seven days or we seek legal redress.” At the same time, the club’s lawyer Anyegah Ondieki also wrote to the federation demanding the club’s reinstatement.
