NYAMIRA county ODM chairman Timothy Bosire yesterday pledged to reach out to assistant minister James Gesami after Sunday's chaotic elections. Bosire said Gesami being the only ODM MP from the county will not be left out of party affairs. "I'm goingto reach out to him because we must build this party. In an election, we expect winners and losers. There is no need for us to fear elections," said Bosire. Gesami, the West Mugirango MP boycotted the elections when he sensed defeat and was ejected out of the venue when he confronted the returning officer Doris Odhiambo.
Delegatesfrom North Mugirango and Kitutu Masaba ganged up against their West Mugirango counterparts. Bosireannounced that several meetings and activities have been lined up to promote the party in the county. "ODM is themost popular party in Kenya but we are going to rest on our laurels," added Bosire. During the elections held at Viongozi Pastoral Center, Bosire won the chairmanship unopposed while Elijah Mokaya won the vice chairman's seat.
Otherselected were Lewis Nyakweba (secretary), Samuel Ongeri (vice secretary),Charles Sagwe (treasurer), David Mainda (vice treasurer), Andrew Magangi (organizingsecretary), John Bikundo (deputy organizing secretary), Frida Misiaro (secretary women affairs), and Julius Mariita (secretary youth affairs). Gesami however dismissed the polls as a sham and said he will appeal to the ODM National Elections Board. "There wasno election. The presiding officer was sent to confirm one person as chairman,"claimed Gesami. He said the flawed poll may cost the party in the coming elections.
