Gusii Shabana ready to go to court over their omission

THE fate of Gusii Shabana United’s participation in the Nationwide Division One western zone hangs in the balance. Club’s patron Don Bosco Gichana yesterday accused some Football Kenya Federation officials of fighting the club. “When other teams are busy preparing for this season, our fate is still unknown. We were not relegated from the FKF league. Why is our name missing from the list of clubs in the western zone,” wondered Gichana. Speaking on phone, Gichana said some FKF officials are fighting the club. “I’m not interested in any position in FKF. All I’m doing is supporting Gusii Shabana United,” he added. He claimed that some FKF officials had approached him to merge with the original Shabana. Gichana said: “There will be no merger between the two clubs. Some officials who want us to merge were behind the relegation of Shabana. “Some of these people were sabotaging the club last year by paying players to lose games and some players confessed to this,” added Gichana, who sponsors the team through the Don Bosco Foundation. He said the club officials have been seeking audience with FKF national officials to no avail. He also threatened to withdraw sponsorship for the club. “Yesterday, the team manager and my representative met acting CEO (Ludovick) Aduda who referred them to the chairman (Sam Nyamweya) but were unable to meet him. This cat and mouse game should end,” added an angry Gichana. Gichana said he was considering moving to court to challenge the decision to leave them out of the league.
