All set for district cross country championships

DISTRICT cross country championships begin today at various venues across the country. Athletics Kenya (AK) public relations officer, Peter Angwenyi said the event start today and runs through to Saturday. Manga district will stage their championships at Ekerubo Secondary in Kemera today. “Other districts in Nyanza South will, however, stage their trials tomorrow at various venues,” said Angwenyi, who is also the provincial chairman.

Kisii district will hold their championships at Menyinkwa, Gucha at Tendere, Gucha South at Nyamarambe, Borabu at Ensoko and Nyamira at Sironga Girls. “The championships will be used to select a team to represent them at the provincial championships to be held at Kisii Golf Course on February 3,” added Angwenyi.

At the same time, AK Nyanza North branch will stage district cross country championships this Saturday. Kisumu will stage their championship at Kisumu Polytechnic, Nyando at Onjiko Boys, and Rachuonyo at Agoro Sare secondary school. Branch public relations officer Jared Gilo said other districts that will stage championships include Bondo at Bondo University College, Siaya at the local Municipal Stadium and Homabay.
