Raila, Uhuru Meet At Nyangito Burial Today

The country's politics shifts to the greater Kisii today as political players head to the key swing vote region. Prime Minister Raila Odinga will today come face to face with his G7 adversaries as leading presidential candidates troop to Gusii. Today the leaders will be in Bobasi to attend the funeral of former CBK deputy governor Dr Hezron Nyangito, and thereafter campaign for their respective candidates in the Kitutu Masaba by-election. Raila's deputy Uhuru Kenyatta will lead the G7 brigade to the funeral at Borangi village, Gucha district. During a harambee on Tuesday night to offset funeral expenses, Cabinet ministers Sam Ongeri and Chris Obure announced that both Raila and Uhuru will attend the funeral. Raila will make a stop over in Kitutu Masaba to campaign for ODM's Timothy Bosire while Uhuru will campaign for PNU Alliance candidate and former MP Walter Nyambati.
Uhuru will be joined by his G7 ally Eldoret North MP William Ruto, who will be in Kisii for a church fund raiser in Gusii stadium. "I will be in Kisii for the church harambee but will be passing by Kitutu Masaba to campaign for Nyambati," Ruto said yesterday. Raila who arrived yesterday from Israel will be back in Kisii next week to campaign for Bosire, as Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka leads the PNU Alliance/G7 campaigns. Yesterday Kalonzo's spokesman Kaplich Barsito, speaking to the Star from London, said the VP who arrives tonight from Europe and will be heading to Kisii next week. Narc Kenya's Martha Karua will pitch tent in the North Rift with a two day series of events in West Pokot county. Today she will open her party offices in Kapenguria before leading campaigns for the party's candidate in a civic ward by-election in Pokot tomorrow. Another presidential hopeful Peter Kenneth is still in Japan where he has held several meetings with Kenyans in that country. Yesterday, he was meeting with Kenyans at Rhiga Royal Hotel in Kyoto while this weekend he is expected to meet other Kenyans at the Nishitetsu Grand Hotel in Fukuoka city. Ruto who met women leaders in Narok County yesterday has lined up a series of meeting that will see him traverse four counties this weekend.
The Eldoret North MP will today be in Belgut in the morning before leaving to Kisii in the afternoon while tomorrow he will be in Kericho County before concluding his weekend tours in, Kuresoi ,Nakuru County on Sunday. Uhuru will be in Loitoktok, Kajiado County tomorrow where he will be seeking to consolidate his support among the Maasai.
