A teachers union yesterday supported public universities lecturers strike. The Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers said the dons deserve better payment. The strike called by the University Academic Staff Union has affected learning and examinations. Kuppet secretary Edward Obwocha said they backed the strike and urged the lecturers not to give up in until their demands are met. “Vision 2030 cannot be achieved if people who matter in the education sector cannot be paid well,” said Obwocha. The unionist who was in Kisii said the country needed to take more time and pay those in charge of education well if the country is to realise fast growth.
