IEBC prepares for Kitutu Masaba by-election

THE Independent Electoral Boundaries Commission will today and tomorrow clear candidates for the November 28 Kitutu Masaba by-election. According to the Kitutu Masaba returning officer Fredrick Owino, 17 candidates have picked nomination papers.
Speaking te reporters yesterday, Owino said: “Candidates will only be allowed into the hall with their proposers, seconders and few aides. We have allocated each candidate his time to present papers to avoid any inconveniences.”
Among the candidates expected to be cleared are former MPs Mwancha Okioma (Ford People), Walter Nyambati (PNU), Timothy Bosire (ODM), Patrick Omani Nyamweya (PDP), Nyambega Mose (Narc Kenya), Shadrack Mose (KNC), Obwaya Onsinyo (PPK), Kengere Atati (KSC), Phillip Nyauncho (Kaddu) and award winning gospel artist Alex Apoko, popularly known as Ringtone.
Presidential aspirants in the 2012 elections are expected to camp in the constituency having identified candidates they will support. Nyambati has received the backing of the G7 Alliance while ODM, which has done badly in by elections will be seeking to win the seat. Ford People director of elections Albert Nyaundi and Kaddu Nyanza representative Justus Rasugu said they nominated strong candidates.
