Two Nyamira children killed in inferno

Two children in Nyamira died after their house caught fire. Relatives said the children were asleep when the fire broke out yesterday morning. Their grandfather, Benard Nyangeri, said they were not able to rescue the children because the fire spread fast. “I saw a huge smoke from the house. When I dashed to see what was happening, I found the house engulfed by fire," Nyangeri said.

A neighbour, Charles Barake, said he was plucking tea nearby when he saw smoke billowing but when he arrived, the children were trapped inside the house. Shocked villagers and relatives flocked the homestead to console the family. “The tragedy was too sudden and incomprehensible. We do not know what could have caused the fire," Nyangeri said.
