Preparations in top gear for Kitutu Masaba by-election

TWO candidates will face off for the Kaddu ticket for Kitutu Masaba by-election next month. A party official Justus Rasugu said Nyameino Atuti and Phillip Nyauncho will battle it out for the party’s ticket. “We have two candidates who have shown interest and we will do a nomination so that we give the best candidate the seat,” said Rasugu who is Kaddu Nyanza coordinator.

He added: “The two candidates are strong and we have to hold a nomination.” Both Nyauncho and Atuti confirmed they are in the race. The ODM has also indicated that they will carry out party primaries to choose a candidate. Some other sources have said only ODM party chairman in the constituency Timothy Bosire had shown interest.

The source also said that the party has a team headed by a university lecturer to doing a survey in the constituency on the most popular candidate. In the committee are professionals from the Kisii community. During a visit to the constituency last month, PM Raila Odinga declared that the by-election will be a rehearsal for the 2012 elections.
