Education officials from Kenya visit U of M, Crookston

A delegation of officials from Kisii University College (KUC) in Kisii, Kenya, visited and toured the University of Minnesota, Crookston on Tuesday, September 27 to learn about the campus and discuss possible future collaboration  opportunities.

Founded in 1965 as a teacher’s training college, Kisii University College in Kenya was established as a constituent college of Egerton University, the premier public agricultural university in Kenya in 2007 and has continued to expand. KUC currently offers over 16 undergraduate degrees and ten diplomas. It employs 285 faculty and staff members and enrolls over 1,500 students.

Among the delegation were KUC President and Principal Professor John Akama; Anakalo “Alfred” Shitandi, director of Research, Extension, and Linkages; Evans Basweti of the College of Agriculture; and Geoffrey Otomu, dean of Health Sciences.  U of M Extension Dean and Director Bev Durgan and Carol Carrier, professor, Organizational Leadership and Policy, U of M, also accompanied the delegation. 

The visiting officials have toured the Twin Cities campus of the University of Minnesota and headed for Grand Rapids after leaving Crookston.
