Chief to eradicate the local illicit brew-Nyamira

Chiefs and their assistants in Masaba South district who could not eradicate the brewing of the local illicit brew within their areas of their jurisdiction could face the sack.

District Commissioner Mr.Donald Muwavi said that those who could have not done so within two weeks could be deemed as failures and therefore they could be replaced by those who can deliver.

Speaking during a public baraza at Kiamirege playground,Muwavi advised those who want to do the business of brewing the local illicit to make application to his office so that they be given a clearance after meeting the required conditions.

The administrator noted that the changaa and busaa prepared these days was not like the one which was made in the old days as the current was mixed deadly chemicals.

He advised the locals to discard the culture of drinking of the local brew as it was doing more harm to their bodies than good.

The DC expressed his disappointment that some of the administrators were also taking the local illicit and as a result the move has encouraged the brewers to diversify the business.

On security Muwavi asked members of the public to cooperate with law enforcement officers in stamping out crime in the area.

He asserted that without cooperation from members of the public, police and the provincial administration cannot management in curbing crime in the area.

He asked them to expose the culprits to the police and gave them as assurance them that their investigations could be treated secretly
