Presidential aspirants troop to Kitutu Masaba, eager for battle

PRESIDENTIAL aspirants are spoiling for a bruising battle in the forthcoming Kitutu Masaba by election. The aspirants are using the by election to test their popularity ahead of the 2012 election. They have identified candidates to support in the November 28 election. During his recent visit to the constituency, Prime Minister Raila Odinga declared that the by election will be a dress rehearsal for the 2012 election. “The by election will be a rehearsal for the 2012 elections,” said the PM after attending a church service at Gekano Catholic Church.
ODM is likely to field area chairman Timothy Bosire for the seat. However, the party has announced that they will carry out primaries. The G7 Alliance is said to be supporting outgoing MP Walter Nyambati whose election was nullified. G7 alliance leaders Kalonzo Musyoka, Eugene Wamalwa and William Ruto are behind Nyambati’s re-election.
Another presidential candidate Peter Kenneth visited the constituency at the weekend where he was accompanied by Nairobi lawyer Shadrack Mose. Mose is contesting the seat. Others in the race are lawyer Mose Nyambega will contest on the Narc Kenya ticket. He recently hosted party leader Martha Karua in the constituency.
Others in the race are former PC Zachary Ogongo who has ditched ODM Kenya, Ford People’s Mwancha Okioma and gospel artist Alex Nyanchoga populary known as Ringtone. Wamalwa speaking during a rally in Western Kenya vowed that the G7 Alliance will teach ODM a lesson in the by election by clinching the seat.
