Kisii MP Asks for One More Term

NEWLY appointed assistant minister for Trade Manson Nyamweya yesterday pledged to make South Mugirango a model constituency if he gets another term in Parliament. Speaking during his homecoming party cum thanks giving service at Nyamarambe stadium, Nyamweya said he had done a lot in the one year he has been in parliament.
During the function, Nyamweya was officially made a Kisii elder a signicant boost for his political career. "When I was elected one year ago, I promised to improve roads, and other infrastructure and I'm happy I have fulfilled some of the promises. I will make it a model constituency in Kenya if you re-elect me for only five years," said the Ford People MP.
He regretted that most schools in the constituency were mud walled and accused his predecessor of poorly managing public resources. Nyamweya who was accompanied by Public Works minister Chris Obure and area DC Geoffrey Mayama at the same time thanked Prime Minister Raila Odinga for appointing him to the position. "I was given this position by the PM and I want to thank him.
He has MPs from his party but he decided to appoint me a clear indication that he has confidence in me," added Nyamweya. "Some people are opposed to my appointment but this is a government position and I have taken it up," he added. Former South Mugirango MP David Kombo praised the MP for improving roads and other infrastructure in the constituency.
