Knut Official Denies Endorsing Nyambati

A senior KNUT official has denied endorsing the reelection of ousted Kitutu Masaba MP Walter Nyambati. Assistant national treasurer Richard Kibagendi termed reports in sections of the press as misleading and malicious. "I have not endorsed Nyambati or any other candidate and when the right time comes, we will give the people direction," Kibagendi said.

The treasurer unsuccessfully sought the seat during the 20007 general election and said he will not contest the November 28 by-election. He asked Kitutu Masaba constituents not to re-elect former MPs Mwancha Okioma and Nyambati saying the two had failed terribly. Prime Minister Raila Odinga last Sunday toured the constituency and said the seat will be a dress rehearsal for the 2012 elections and exuded confidence that the party will clinch the seat.
