Kisii party official rejects old leaders, roots for youth

A Kaddu official in Kisii county yesterday cautioned Kenyans to resist the temptation of recycling retired politicians to manage resources in the counties.

Justus Rasugu urged residents to elect the best for the post of governor in the coming general election. “Let us elect trustworthy people and refuse to recycle those responsible for the problems we face and are running away from,” Rasugu said. He urged the youth to view for seats as the new constitution recognises them.

Meanwhile a Kisii senate aspirant challenged Kenyans living abroad to help revitalise the education standards in their counties of origin. Addressing parents and learners in Nyamira county while issuing books to schools, Mongare Bw’Okongo a lawyer, said Kenyans residing abroad have a responsibility to help revive education standards in counties. “We must chip in if we want to revitalise education standards in the region because some institutions lack necessary learning facilities and books,” he said.

He noted there are many professionals in the country and many others in the Diaspora who can help uplift the standards of education. “I am urging Kenyans in the Diaspora to come and adopt schools that they will help improve their facilities. They can also donate learning materials like books,” said Bw’Okongo.

Speaking at Sengera Secondary school in Manga district, Bw'Okongo called for a review of the Education Act. He said the Act as it is limits people who will wish to sponsor schools. He said the Act has encouraged wrangles between those who sponsor schools and the school management, a situation he says adversely affect education standards in the country. He distributed books worth Sh370,000 to five schools in Manga district through Mongare Bw’Okongo Foundation.
