Obure Decries Increase Of Insecurity In Kisii

Public Works Minister Dr. Chris Obure has decried the increasing number of murder cases due to domestic violence and land dispute in Kisii.
Mr. Obure termed the situation as worrying and questioned the role of security organs of government in curbing the situation.
Obure noted that hardly a day passes without more than three murders committed in the region.
He pleaded with families to be tolerant to one another without using murder as a solution of addressing their differences.
The minister challenged members of the provincial administration to be conducting barazas regularly and educating wananchi against the culture of taking the law into their hands, but instead seeks legal redress.
Speaking in Kisii town ,Obure asked clan elders to assist families in solving land disputes which have resulted to the loss of many lives in the entire Kisii region.
He also asked the police to take action against the lawbreakers so as to serve as a lesson.
“Let those who break the law know that there is a government in place and the rule of law must be respected,” The minister stressed.
Obure who is the Bobasi MP asked also wananchi to discard the culture drunkenness which he said was hindering development.
He asked the police and members of the provincial administration to be in the forefront in stamping out the brewing of chang’aa which he said has led to the loss of lives in the region.
