Body Goes Missing From Morgue

Tension gripped the Hema Hospital mortuary in Kisii town on Tuesday after the body of a mother of two was found missing by relatives.

The relatives arrived in a convoy of eight vehicles and cleared the mortuary fee of Sh3,000 with the accounting department. However, the body could not be located.

Khadija Fauzia Mairura, the wife to Kehancha-based Administration Policeman, Constable Geoffrey Mairura Oanda, died at the Kisii General Hospital on May 3. Her body was transferred to Hema Hospital mortuary the following day.

Khadija who hailed from Hola area in Tana River District was married to the AP in 1996 and has been staying with her in-laws at their Keroka home before her death.

Her brother, Abdi Mohammed and mother, Asha Mohammed, were in great shock yesterday afternoon.
