Fans Raise Funds for Troubled Shabana

Embattled Shabana FC will hold a fund-raising meeting on Thursday at the 680 Hotel to help the team complete the remaining premiership fixtures.

In a signed press statement, deputy patron, Sam Nyamweya, said the club needs funds in order to manage to finish the league. The club has been facing financial problems for the past three years, which has forced the management to hold the fund-raising.

"We are in the process of rejuvenating the former glory of our club and I have therefore, organised this fund-raiser so that our club's position can once again be restored," Nyamweya said in the statement.
The Kisii-based "glamour boys" have been going through lean periods this season and have mostly been languishing at the bottom of Group "B" in the PrtemierLeague standings. They have played 11 matches and managed to win only one. They have five points.

The club is operating minus a coach after the dismisal of Enock Obwaka early last month.

Energy Minister Raila Odinga will preside over the Thursday fund raiser, said Nyamweya.
