Nyachae who stood to ask a supplementary question over a matter raised by Kitutu Masaba MP George Anyona (KSC) told an Assistant Minister for Agriculture Joseph Lotodo to inform his minister that the matter required his personal intervention.
Nyachae told Lotodo that the tea industry in Kisii was about to collapse and that no meetings were being held contrary to Lotodo's assertions. "The tea industry in Kisii is going to collapse and let the minister himself go to the ground and intervene because no meetings are being held and the farmers are fed up," he added.
Nyachae was contributing to a question by Anyona who had sought to know whether the minister was aware that the crisis between tea farmers and the directors of Kebirigo, Nyankoba, Nyansiongo and Tombe tea factories in Nyamira District, and Kiamokama Tea Factory in Kisii among others had not been resolved.
He had also sought to know whether he was also aware that the said tea factories had not held any AGMs. He wanted to be told what remedial actions the Government was going to take to resolve the crisis.
Responding, Lotodo said the ministry was awaiting the outcome of a meeting scheduled for August 26 after which they would intervene in the matter.
