Kisii defeated their neighbours Nyamira youths 4-2 on post-match penalties after the two teams had settled for barren draw at regular time. Nyamira had themselves to blame for failing to score in the first half when they dominated the match played on their home turf.
Similarly, Kisii, who dominated the second half, failed to click as their efforts were thwarted by the Nyamira defence led by Richard Kombo. The teams reached the final after defeating 18 teams drawn from six KFF sub-branches in the region.
Kombo, Isaac Nyasrori and George Siro either shot wide or into the waiting hands of the goalkeeper while Machuka Kerosi missed the target for the Kisii side.
Nyamira DO1 Joseph Saita and KFF officials peesented the winning team with Sh 30,000 and a trophy while the runners-up were given Sh 15,000.
Nyanza South branch secretary John Omari asked sub-branches in the region to submit the four best under 19 players who will form the branch team before January 4.
Meanwhile, Kisulisuli Sportif cruised into the quarter-finals of the Nakuru Municipality inter-estates soccer tournament when they beat the hard-fighting Free Area 1-0 in a tough match played at Kamukunji sports ground on Saturday.
The winners, steered by the Belgium-based professional and Harambee stars player John 'Mo' Muiruri, finished their preliminary matches with 17 points.
Following the victory, Racetrack, who were awaiting the outcome of the match, have now bowed out of contention after finishing the competition in the fifth position with 15 points.
Against Free Area, Kisulisuli scored their all-important goal in the first half through Boaz Suchia, who turns out for Nakuru Police in the Premier League.
In another match played at the same venue, Paul Machanga who have also sailed into the quarters, completed their preliminary matches on a winning note when they thrashed Menengai 5-2.
