Prisoners Escape Causing Anxiety

Questions are being raised over claims that armed thugs helped the three prisoners escape from their Kisii District Hospital beds at gun point.

Anxiety yesterday swept over security departments in Kisii following an escape of a robbery convict and two ordinary remand prisoners.

They escaped while being guarded by two prison warders at ward five. Reports that they were aided to escape by accomplices at gun point, created controversy when patients, medical officers, and security men at the institution said they did not witness any such incident.

Elsewhere, a suspected criminal yesterday escaped from Kangundo police cells after hoodwinking officers on duty. Kangundo police boss, Mr John Kehanja said disciplinary action will be taken against the officers on duty during the escape for laxity.
