Shabana's Plea for Assistance

Premier League side, Shabana, have asked leaders to save them from collapse. Kenya Football Federation (KFF) Nyanza South branch chairman, Alfred Juma, yesterday asked Kisii leaders to help the club.

Juma, who has been among KFF officials supporting the club financially, yesterday said some of the officials had run out of cash, adding that the club urgently needs a major harambee.

"We have seen leaders in various parts of the country intervening financially to save clubs like AFC Leopards, Gor Mahia, Re-Union and other non-institutional clubs," he said.

"That spirit should help Shabana out of the current financial crisis," Juma said. Shabana were forced to spend a night in the cold in Mombasa three weeks ago where they were stranded after playing Dubai Bank in a premiership tie.

Yesterday, team Manager Nicholas Anyuga also led players in asking Kisii leaders, businessmen and other football lovers to come to their rescue, saying their players are living from hand to mouth.

"We have been hoping to acquire a sponsor but all our efforts have failed. We appeal to leaders who love football to help us seek sponsor," Anyuga said.

Meanwhile, Nationwide League leaders, Agro-Chemical have replaced coach Albert Shamola. Sources within the side said Shamola, who joined the club from premiership side Panpaper, left last week to join Agro following the death of former coach, Peter "Gadaffi" Oloo.

Club sources said those being touted for Shamola's replacement includes Francis Baraza, currently with Sony Sugar, and former Gor Mahia coach Martin Midega. And Agro inched closer to joining the Premier League when they won their two home fixtures last weekend.

On Sunday, the Muhoroni outfit blanked Nairobi team, Kahawa United, 1-0.

On Saturday, Agro came from a goal down to edge Green Berets 2-1 with the victors' goals coming from Buyengo, while Edward Mwangi scored Berets' sole goal.
