They accused their MP, Mr Simeon Nyachae, who is also the Energy minister, of not treating his electorate fairly.
Waving placards, the demonstrators, led by Kisii deputy mayor Lukas Ongaki singled out the MP's opposition to the construction of Bobaracho dispensary. While addressing leaders at Keumbu last week, Mr Nyachae directed the Constituency Development Fund committee to sideline the dispensary saying its construction was unprocedural.
He argued that the project was too close to the Kisii district hospital. However, the people said Mr Nyachae was being insincere.
"Mr Nyachae personally laid its foundation stone in 1998 and we are shocked that he has now blocked it from benefiting from the fund," charged a spokesman, Mr Zakayo Masiga.
Mrs Mellen Onuko invited Mr Nyachae to visit the area and listen to their grievances.
"We still respect Mr Nyachae as our MP but it is as if he has started to listen more to other people at the expense of the electorate" she said.
The Minister told the Keumbu meeting that only projects approved by the committee would be allocated funds.
Mr Ongaki vowed to organise a funds drive towards the project's completion. He said more than Sh1.2 million had been spent on the dispensary.
