The worshippers flocked to Mr Nyachae's Nyosia home in his Nyaribari Chache constituency to take part in the prayers led by the SDA South Kenya Conference secretary, Mr Richard Okemwa, and Fr Evans Nyabwari of Kisii Catholic Diocese.
Mr Nyachae said he was on a recovery path and criticised those claiming that he was a dying man.
"Despite the rumours that I was dying, I have today come to demonstrate that I am recovering and ready to resume my duties and responsibilities," he said.
The minister's left hip was operated on and two plates inserted at a London hospital.
Saying he was under close supervision by his doctor, Mr Nyachae regretted that he could no longer use normal vehicles, including the two assigned to him by the Government.
"I have to use vehicles with specifications that meet the doctor's recommendations. I am likely to continue so until the end of the year," he said, leaning on his walking stick.
Mr Nyachae narrated at length how he had battled with an injury he sustained in a gym in his Nairobi home in February, 2002. The injury worsened with time, resulting in last month's successful operation.
The minister said he was used to insults and malicious propaganda against his style of leadership right from the time he announced his intention to join politics.
"Even the time I declared my intention to seek the Kanu leadership, many people abused me but I withstood all," he said.
His youngest wife, Grace who was at the Ford People leader's bedside while he was in hospital, blamed the culture of secrecy on the health of senior Government officials on the malicious rumours about Mr Nyachae's illness.
"We cannot blame the media or the rumour mongers for whatever they said since all was caused by the secrecy surrounding prominent Kenyans' sickness," she said.
